This section of the site deals with managing a hall with respect to what the organisation is set up to do, the people associated with it and things it uses to help it function. It provides a broad overview of key issues with the aim of helping managers to: devise strategies, plan effectively, develop the organisation, construct policy, create partnerships and work well with other organisations and assess effectiveness. There is information about employing staff and using volunteers as well as involving service users. The 'Keeping Legal' section of this website is intended to provide hall committees with a quick overview of the major areas and pieces of legislation that will (or may) affect them. Management of buildings and equipment is covered in Bricks and Mortar.

Keeping Legal
The 'Keeping Legal' section of this website is intended to provide hall committees with a quick overview of the major areas and pieces of legislation that will (or may) affect them. It does not set out to be an authoritative statement of the law. The range and diversity of pertinent legislation means that different areas are dealt with in different ways and to a different degree of detail. The nature of legislation means that it is not possible to cover every enquiry through the provision of information on a website. If a voluntary organisation has specific legal queries it should seek professional advice.
